Magic Lamp is a Secondary Quest in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. Secondary Quests are optional Quests not required to finish the game. Some of these quests may have a bearing on certain Main Quests or may be a consequence of another Quest.
Magic Lamp can be obtained right before leaving the ruins during Wandering in the Dark. Keira Metz asks Geralt in helping her find a magic lamp that the mysterious elf promised her.
Keira Metz had helped Geralt in his search for Ciri, so the witcher decided to return the favor. The sorceress sought a magic lamp which the mysterious elven mage had promised to give her. Since the object was nowhere in sight, our heroes drew the only possible conclusion: that it lay concealed somewhere in the underground passageways.
The Witcher 3 Magic Lamp Objectives
- Follow Keira.
- Search the room using your Witcher Senses.
- Light the braziers in the correct order.
- Look for the lamp in the mage's laboratory using your Witcher Senses.
- Find an exit leading to the surface.

Walkthrough for The Witcher 3 Magic Lamp
Once the quest starts, follow Keira Metz into a room then use your witcher senses to find an inscription on the door. They both translate the riddle and it reads:
"Four guardians, four flames, standing proud in a line. The First to light his fire dared not march on the end. The Second, by the First, played a woeful lament. The Third kept close to his faithful beast. The Fourth marched not beside the First, yet like the Second, played a tune. And thus they stood o'er their queen, who slept beneath flickering stars."
The order to light the torches is 3, 2, 4, 1 as they are in a straight line you just need to follow the pattern. Once you light them all correctly, the door will open. If you ever light any of the braziers incorrectly, the fires will go out and Wraiths will spawn in the area.
After you enter the room, approach the shrine, then a cutscene will occur. Afterward, you can backtrack and find the exit but there is still additional loot in the area which is completely optional. If you want to obtain it, you need to climb up a few ledges in the same room where the shrine is and find a Place of Power for Yrden. Then you will also find more loot nearby where you'll see a Golem protecting the small area.
Now once you find an exit and you reach the surface area, you will split ways with Keira and will split up and the quest ends. The quest An Invitation from Keira Metz will also be available after this.
