For the Advancement of Learning is a Secondary Quest in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. Secondary Quests are optional Quests not required to finish the game. Some of these quests may have a bearing on certain Main Quests or may be a consequence of another Quest.
For the Advancement of Learning can be obtained after completing A Favor for a Friend. Having been put under a spell by Keira Metz, Geralt sets out to find what she's up to.
Nothing about sorceresses should be taken at face value. Their faces least of all - those perfect, ever youthful visages have as little to do with nature as Hierarch Hemmelfart has with charity. If anyone should have learned to think twice when dealing with them, it was Geralt, and yet still he accepted Keira's dinner invitation.
During what Geralt naively thought to be innocent conversation between friends, Keira tricked him into revealing information about the mage Alexander's laboratory and then, when he was least expecting it, sent him to sleep with a spell so he could not stop her from carrying out her nefarious plans...

Walkthrough for The Witcher 3 For the Advancement of Learning
After completing the previous quest named A Favor for a Friend, this quest will automatically begin. Look for Keira in Fyke Isle near the tower. A cutscene will play once you get close enough to the tower where you'll see Keira exit the tower. She then admits that she is planning to bargain with Radovid and believes that he will pardon her for her association with the Lodge by giving him the notes she pocketed just now. You will have three options here:
- Kill Her.
- Let her bargain with Radovid.
- Convince her to go to Kaer Morhen.
If you want to kill her, you would have to select the "used", and "serpent" and then demand the notes. This will eventually lead you two to fight to the death. When you select any option where you ask for the notes or if you say you can't let her bargain with Radovid, it will cause her to become hostile and unfortunately lead to her death. Once she's dead you will burn Alexander's notes. This will reward you with 200 XP.
If you want to let her bargain with Radovid, select "used", and "serpent" then exit out of the conversation. It doesn't matter what dialogue you pick as long as you don't mention Kaer Morhen and demand the notes then say you can't let her go to Radovid. This will reward you with 100 XP.
If you want her to go to Kaer Morhen, ask her about the notes and select "Radovid never forgets" and "It's suicide", then the option where you suggest Kaer Morhen will become available. Note that this is the only chance where you can mention this, if you do not select this option, you either have to let her bargain with Radovid or kill her instead. Once you convince her to go to Kaer Morhen, you can then ask her for the notes without having to kill her. This will reward you 100 XP.
The Witcher 3 For the Advancement of Learning Notes & Trivia
- Bug - as of 1.03 Keira doesn't go through the portal if you pick the Kaer Morhen option (This is NOT a consistent glitch. If it happens to you reload and retry and it should fix itself).
