Black Pearl is a Secondary Quest in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. Secondary Quests are optional Quests not required to finish the game. Some of these quests may have a bearing on certain Main Quests or may be a consequence of another Quest.
Black Pearl can be obtained by meeting Nidas behind The Golden Sturgeon in Novigrad. You will have to complete the main quest Destination: Skellige to play the second half of this quest.
When men sense death's approach, they try to finish all manner of unresolved business. Some write wills, others pay off debts and still others make up with estranged relatives.
The Witcher 3 Black Pearl Objectives
- Meet Nidas near the collapsed bridge to the north of Arinbjorn.
- Follow Nidas to the pearl bed.
- Find a black pearl using your Witcher Senses.
- Return to Nidas.
- Kill the Drowners.
- Meet Nidas in the Golden Sturgeon to collect your reward.
Rewards for Black Pearl in The Witcher 3
Walkthrough for The Witcher 3 Black Pearl
Once you speak to Nidas, he will tell you how he plans on going back to Skellige to find a black pearl to bring back to his wife but he will need help as he is not fit as he used to be. If you agree, he will ask you to meet him north of Arinbjorn.
Upon arriving on Skellige, head to the marker to find Nidas waiting for you on the collapsed bridge. He'll then lead you to the waters where he'll explain that he needs you to do the heavy lifting.
Now head out into the waters, you'll find a couple of Shells and Sirens. The shell you're looking for is naturally the one farthest from the shore. Once you've obtained the black pearl, head back to Nidas. As you get closer, you will see him getting attacked by Drowners, head back immediately to kill them and save him. Once you've killed all of them, talk to Nidas and he'll tell you he forgot to bring his purse with him. Regardless of what you say during this conversation, he promises to pay you back in Novigrad before leaving. This will reward you with 25 XP.
Do note that while Nidas is being attacked by the Drowners, he can die and the quest will automatically fail.
Go back to The Golden Sturgeon and meet up with Nidas and talk to him again. Regardless of your choice, he will reveal the full story. He says that his wife, Letta, is sick and suffering and she can't remember or recognize anyone anymore. He was hoping that bringing her the black pearl would help in regaining her memory, but sadly it didn't. He will then pay you 10 Crowns before saying goodbye.
