A Deadly Plot is a Secondary Quest in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. Secondary Quests are optional Quests not required to finish the game. Some of these quests may have a bearing on certain Main Quests or may be a consequence of another Quest.

A Deadly Plot can be obtained after completing Now or Never. Dijkstra asks Geralt to help him find someone key to Radovid's assassination.

Though Geralt avoided politics like the plague, there were times when he simply couldn't avoid getting entangled. This was very much the case when Roche and Dijkstra convinced him to find their co-conspirator. The man had gone off undercover to resolve a certain matter among the Nilfgaardians and simply disappeared.

Walkthrough for The Witcher 3 A Deadly Plot

To start this quest, go to Passiflora and just east of St. Gregory's Bridge, go inside and speak to Marquise Serenity and she'll open a secret room for you. Go up the stairs and speak to Dijkstra. Vernon Roche will then join you two and you can agree to help in tracking down the spies' missing contact.

Dijkstra points out a disillusioned Redanian soldier named Gregor. Meet up with him by fast traveling from St. Gregory's Bridge to the Border Post nearby.

Now find the shoemaker's wagon, it can be located southeast of the Border Post just southwest of Hindhold and north of Hanged Man's Tree, also just east of the Person(s) in distress marker. Once you find the wagon, you will have to kill some low-level Wolves and/or Wargs. After dispatching the enemies, use your witcher senses to examine the area and mark the wagon on your map for later. Follow the trail of shoes southeast to find a Rock Troll named Rogg, he can be seen standing over a pile of shoes.

Approach Rogg and talk to him, you will then learn that he and his friends Ogg and Pogg have the shoemaker unharmed and currently within their custody in a cave nearby.

You can find their cave just a few steps away from where you are. Upon entering the cave, there's a small room on the left where you can loot the Superior Ursine Armor, gauntlets, trousers, and boots diagrams. Walk along the main passage and find Dijkstra's contact with the two other trolls. You can then either threaten to kill the trolls to release the contact or choose the second dialogue options which can lead to the possibility to have him released peacefully.

Regardless of how you deal with the situation, you will now have to escort Thaler back to his wagon. During the walk back to the wagon, you have the option to talk to him and ask him about his life. Once you both reach the wagon, he will thank you for assisting him, then you can either leave right away or ask him about his cover as a shoemaker.
