A Surprise Inheritance is a Treasure Hunt Quest in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt from the Hearts of Stone DLC. Treasure Hunts are optional Quests not required to finish the game. They are usually activated by interacting with special objects that provide information or clues on the Treasure Hunt objectives. Most treasure hunt quests involve following Geralt's Witcher Senses in order to find the treasure's final location. Complete Treasure Hunts to gain additional rewards. Activate this quest by interacting with the Knut Kreutzman's journal in Novigrad, it can be found: on a body leaning on a stump
While searching a body he found in a ravaged campsite, Geralt found a key and a journal. Thinking the latter might shed light on its writer's fate, he slipped it into his bag.

This Treasure Hunt is activated by obtaining Knut Kreutzman's journal. It can be found: on a body leaning on a stump
A location north of Heddel Ruins will have a campsite with some corpses. The corpse leaning on the stump will contain Knut Kreutzman's journal and a Completely ordinary Key.
Read the journal to begin the treasure hunt the track the quest to the next location. Be ready for an Archgriffin encounter.
- Search the ruined hut's cellar
Once you reach the search area, clear it then use your witcher senses to reveal the door to the cellar on the ground. The chest will be in the small celer. Loot the chest to complete the treasure hunt.
Journal Entry:
The notes contained information about a fortune hidden in a hut a griffin had roosted in. The coin had belonged to the deceased's aunt, but since neither she nor her nephew had any use for it now, Geralt decided to kill the beast and take it for himself.
Many tuck coin away for a rainy day. Most, however, choose more accessible places for their stash than the cellar. Geralt didn't ponder this choice of hiding places long, however, but instead pocketed the coin and went on his way.
