What is The Witcher 3?


  • The Witcher 3 is an upcoming action RPG by CD Projekt RED. It is the direct sequel to The critically acclaimed The Witcher 2. Players will once again play the part of Geralt of Rivia created by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The game features open ended, open world gameplay. Players are free to go where they want when they want, just don't be surprised if things aren't the same when you get back.The new engine developed by CD Projekt RED features a living breathing world. NPCs will head for cover in the rain, fend off attacks from creatures and bandits and even meet for midnight rendezvous if left to their own devices. CD Projekt RED estimates that there is over 100 hours of gameplay, and there are 36 different endings.


Who is Geralt of Rivia?


  • Geralt of Rivia is the protagonist of the Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski's novels and subsequently the games created based upon them by CD Projekt Red. He is a witcher (monster slayer for hire) with special abilities and powers. This makes him capable of hunting very dangerous monsters and creatures, many of which are taken from Polish folklore, and many you will recognize from childhood stories. Geralt is famed for his pearl white hair and his prowess in combat. He is portrayed as being a very stern, but just slayer of evil, and is known for accomplishing this often through unconventional means.


What platforms will the game be released on?


  • The game is slated to be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The PC version will allow the player to upload his/her save file from The Witcher 2. It is unclear just what impacts this will have on the game.


When will the game be released?


  • No official date has been given yet, but the developers of CD Projekt RED have stated that it will be for sure some time this year.
