Mounts are one of many means of travel in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Roach is the name that Geralt of Rivia has given to every horse that he keeps as a companion It is not known why he calls them by this name, as seemingly he followed this tradition before meeting Vernon Roche meaning the two names are likely unrelated (as Roche should in fact be pronounced "Rosh" (not "Roach") like in polish, the original version). For an unknown reason Geralt prefers to ride female horses, perhaps it is a simple matter of preference or it is related to an unspoken part of his past. Within The Witcher 3, Geralt may ride horses and it is likely that whether he has many or just one, the horse will be called Roach. There have been at least three different horses named Roach that Geralt has kept.
Can I change Roach's appearance in The Witcher 3?
In The Witcher 3, Roach is a brown mare that Geralt can call upon at any time while outside to travel faster around the continent. Though there are many wild horses of different breeds and colors, you are unable to change Roach's appearance for most of the game. The only opportunity you will have to change her appearance is during the quest Blood on the Battlefield. By refusing Emhyr's initial reward, he rewards you a black Nilfgaardian steed and will permanently change Roach into this horse.
Can I ride other horses in The Witcher 3?
Roach is not the only mount you can ride in The Witcher 3, you can also ride the wild horses and some owned but unmounted horses wandering the overworld. Perform Axii next to one to calm it down, and you'll be able to ride it indefinitely. If you attempt to ride one without performing Axii beforehand, they will kick you off almost immediately.

I like to ride the horsies and play in the fields all day. I like horses and they are pretty cool, especially with their huge horse weiners, I like them long times.
Is it possible to ride anything else except horses and woman in the witcher?
