The Witchers are monster hunters that have been trained from an early age in the arts of combat while being mutated via magic and potions. They can be easily recognized by their strange glowing cat like eyes and the fact that most carry two weapons on their backs, one silver and one steel

  • Vatt'ghern is Elder Speech for witcher.
  • In the first game Geralt carries his blades crossed on his back. In the second one he favors a side-by-side placement, diagonally reaching above his right shoulder. The canon placement of the swords on a Witcher's back has never been explained in the games so far (up to The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings).
