Walkthrough for The Witcher 3 Where Children Toil, Toys Waste Away
This quest begins with the first objective: Find the bootblack who appeared in the vision.
Track the quest and the minimap will lead you to the quest objective location. Enter the objective zone to complete the objective. If you arrive outside of his working hours, you will be tasked to visit the Bootblack during his hours. Pass the time by Mediating to 8 am. This will immediately start the next cutscene. This will give you 3 dialogue options, but it will have the same result, and you can tell them you're his father or the witcher.
The end of the cutscene will be immediately met with combat. You will need to win a fistfight against the workers. Win the fight to start the next cutscene. Complete the dialogue. Choose either option, as it will not affect the quest. After the scene with the guards and the workers, you'll eventually get to interact with the bootblack. This will be your chance to negotiate. You will not be able to haggle much. Paying the full sum will also count towards a "Proof of Generosity" if you are working on the There Can Be Only One quest.
Land an agreement and continue then you will need to follow Regis. He will lead you to a toy shop. Enter the shop to play the next scene.
Activate your Witcher Senses once you enter the shop. Investigate the area and loot it. What you're looking for is upstairs. There will be an image of a woman etched on the wall. You will also need to examine the tools on his workstation and the Letters at the corner table. This will be the "Letters naming the Beast's targets." It'll be by the stairs. Picking it up will start a short scene. This will complete the last objective required for the quest.

The bootblack proved both pugnacious and resolute. Geralt and Regis were desperate to learn anything they could about Dettlaff. The boy sensed this and decided to take advantage. It was clear he would one day go far, such was the knack he demonstrated for business. As regarded the search for Dettlaff, Geralt and Regis learned he had brought his boots to be cleaned on a number of occasions. Each time, he had asked the boy to return them to an old, abandoned shop, where he was to leave them at the door. The witcher and the vampire set off to explore the site.
Geralt and Regis then searched Dettlaff's hideout. Ironically, the "Beast" had made his lair in a storeroom above an abandoned toy shop. After thoroughly searching the site, the witcher and the vampire deduced that Dettlaff was being black-mailed. He had committed the murders in Toussaint at the behest of mysterious individuals who were holding his beloved hostage. Our intrepid duo resolved to split up. Regis would remain at the toy shop and hope Dettlaff would return. He preferred to speak with Dettlaff alone, without the witcher there to disrupt their tête-à-tête...
