Next Quest A Poet Under Pressure

The Plays The Thing is a Main Quest in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. Main Quests are the main storyline of the game that can have a major effect towards the endings. Some of these quests may have dialogue choices that will alter the ending of the game.

The quest begins after either Get Junior or Count Reuven's Treasure, although both must be finished in order to advance it because Geralt must become aware of both Dandelion and Dudu's plights.

As you surely recall, Geralt knew Ciri had been in Novigrad, that she had contacted Dudu and me and that afterwards all three of us had plummeted straight into a writhing snake pit of trouble. The last person to have seen Ciri was yours truly, but I, too, had disappeared without a trace. Geralt accurately surmised that Dudu would be the easiest of our ill-fated trio to find. He went to the one person who could help him do this - Priscilla.

Walkthrough for The Witcher 3 The Plays The Thing

Make your way to the Kingfisher Inn in Novigrad and up the stairs to the first landing. Take the first door on the right to Priscilla's room. Tell her of the plan and to take on the form of Captain Menge, to order Dandelion to be moved to Oxenfurt. Ask about Dudu and suggest to put on a play with a hidden message to Dudu in it. She agrees to the plan, and you can choose the title and type of play. Once the play is ready, bring it to Irina Renarde at the Butchers' Yard off the main square.

Pay to get into the yard and speak to Irina about Dudu. Explain the plans. She agrees and asks for help hiring ushers and approaching the Puffins to advertise the play.

Make your way to the Puffins' house and speak to them, agreeing to get rid of the thugs harassing them. Make your way to the street corner where the thugs are. Do what you need and fight them. The Puffins appear and thank you and agree to advertise the play.

Head west to the southern part of Novigrad docks where you will see a fight. Have a chat with Sofus the Bull and offer to hire him. Whether you bribe or scuffle with them you will hire them.

Head back to the theather and speak with Irina. Discuss the script and choose yourself as the Witcher. Hire Priscilla or Irina as the Princess. Pick Aleblard Rizza or Maxim Bolliere as the Prince. You may take time to prepare for the play. When ready, peform the play. In Act I, choosing the line "To slay beasts" allows you to complete it. In Act II, choosing the line "Perhaps 'midst the guests" allows you to complete it. In Act III, choose the lines "Seems men's hearts", "But a base heart" and "No monster is he" for ultimate success. Depending on the type of play, a scuffle may break at the end.

Head into Irina's room and speak to Dudu about his escape. You may ask him to change into Ciri if you'd like. Let him in on the plan to rescue Dandelion to conclude the quest and begin A Poet Under Pressure.
