The Night of Long Fangs starts a few days after the completion of Capture the Castle. This questline is only available with the Blood and Wine DLC

It was painfully clear the audience with the duchess would not be a pleasant one. For Geralt and Regis had failed to establish Dettlaff's whereabouts, though not for lack of trying. Matters, alas, quickly took an even more tragic turn. When Geralt failed to deliver Syanna to the lover betrayed, he fulfilled his threat and sent down upon Beauclair and its environs a plague of horrid beasts. The witcher immediately resumed his efforts to find and confront Dettlaff.

Walkthrough for The Witcher 3 The Night of Long Fangs

This quest is tied directly to the previous one in the quest line and begins immediately after the cutscene following Capture the Castle. You will immediately begin with a combat sequence. Your objective will be to Kill the vampire. You will be up against a bruxa. This bruxa have the ability to make short quick teleport. Go ahead and use some Potions for the fight if you feel like you need it. Vampire Oil items can be used especially to enhance your abilities and damage output against Vampires. Other stronger variants of this oil include Superior Vampire Oil and Enhanced Vampire Oil.

Once you are ready for battle, keep moving to counter her quick movement abilities. She also has a scream that can disorient Geralt so you will need to dodge these. When you manage to get in range, attack aggressively.  When she disappears, keep moving to avoid her incoming attacks when she repositions. Continue to get in range and reposition until the fight is over. A cutscene will end this part of the quest.

You will enter a dialogue and will have to decide who to find next.

  • Consider freeing Syanna. Let's talk to Damien
  • Leaning towards no nonsense. Orianna, let's find her
  • Don't know. Need to think about it.

This will affect your next objectives and will determine whether Regis will join you as you progress through this quest. If you wish to have him accompany you, choose the first option opting to find Damien. Either way, you will need to make your way through the city in chaos. Your target location will be marked. Each decision will also lead to different outcomes during this quest. After the cutscene, you will have two available objectives.

Find Damien and ask him where Syanna is being kept or

Ask Orianna where to find the Unseen Elder. Both will also be marked on your map, so choose which one to track and head in that direction. Choosing to find Orianna will make a secondary quest available to.  you: Blood Simple

Be careful as you make your way through the city as you will encounter more Bruxa enemies and larger Fleder opponents. There is a chance that you will also encounter a katakan trying to devour Delwyn of Creigiau. You will have the option to save the knight or not. If you are traveling with Regis, you might risk falling behind. You will need to use your Witcher senses o follow Damien's unit.

Depending on which objective you decide to track, follow the objective locations. Reaching the final location will lead to a cutscene.

Follow Damien's unit using your Witcher Senses.

During this objective, you will be following Damien's trail while clearing the Vampire enemies in your way. If Regis is with you, you will be following him around the city. If not you will have needed to perform some additional objectives to end up in the same location. You will also be met with the following objectives:

  • Go to the playroom.
  • Get inside the playroom.
  • Search the playroom to find out what happened to Syanna.
  • Find the book "The Land of a Thousand Fables."

Once you reach their locations, you can head up the stairs and it will task you to get inside the playroom. Open the doors and you will need to search the playroom. Loot the area and the chest on the ground floor before heading up. Use your Witcher Senses and a number of objects will be highlighted in red.

In order to find out what happened to Syanna, you will need to investigate the area. A number of items will be highlighted, but the main object you are looking for is the journal on the desk. Picking it up will begin a cutscene. All other highlighted objects in the playroom are listed below. Interact with them to see what Geralt has to say or has observed about them.

  • Wooden duck on the wooden bench by the stairs.
  • Music box on the side table next to the bench by the stairs.
  • Miniature tableware on the center round table.
  • Tin Knight at the corner of the room by the rocking horse.
  • Round Carpet at the corner of the room where the vanity mirrors are
  • Locked wardrobe door
  • Journal on the desk

Once you pick up the journal on the desk it will trigger a cutscene. Finally, you will need to find the book "The Land of a Thousand Fables."

To locate the book, observe the picture on the wall to locate a key. You can now unlock the wardrobe door where you will find the book you are looking for. Observing it will complete the quest and play out a cutscene.

Ask Orianna

Once you reach Orianna's location, a cutscene will begin. Regardless of what you choose to respond to her when the dialogue option pops up. Once you arrive, you can use Axii on the boy after the cutscene. This will immediately begin another quest only available if you choose to seek Orianna: Blood Simple.

The Night of Long Fangs Journals

Geralt seeks out Damien:
Geralt heeded Regis' advice and would seek to resolve the crisis through peaceful means. To do so, he would need to fulfill the vampire blackmailer's demand and free Syanna. He now needed to establish where this troublemaker was being held. The witcher suspected he could extract this information from Captain Damien de la Tour, the duchess' confidant in such matters.
Geralt seeks out Orianna:
Geralt had decided - Dettlaff could not be considered harmless. True, he was doubtless a sentient creature as well as Regis' close friend - but no. The Witcher would resolve matters with his blade. To do this, Geralt would need to force Dettlaff to reveal himself, then to fight. And this in turn required him to find one of only a handful of ancient vampires remaining in the world. And the only one who could help him with the latter was that legend of the Beauclairois boheme, Orianna.

The game still thinks I need to do this quest even though I finished it long ago. The side quests are literally unplayable because it keeps teleporting me back to the quest area. Any fix?
