The Great Escape is a Main Quest in The Witcher 3 Wild HuntMain Quests are the main storyline of the game that can have a major effect towards the endings. Some of these quests may have dialogue choices that will alter the ending of the game.

In the mission to gather the members of the former Lodge of Sorceress, it fell to Yennefer to bring Margarita Laux-Antille to Novigrad. Yennefer's old friend had been captured by the witch hunters and was being kept in Deireadh, the best-guarded prison this side of the Yaruga.

Geralt and Yennefer thus had a hard endeavor in front of them - they would have to break into the sealed compound and sneak Margarita out. Good thing Yen had something even better than a file in a carrot cake: contact information for the one man who had managed to escape Deireadh. Escaping seemed to be in his blood, for he attempted to make another getaway at the sight of Yennefer and Geralt, but eventually they caught him and sat down for a chat. He told them how to outfox the guards and enter the prison unnoticed. With no time to waste, Geralt and Yennefer raced off to Margarita's rescue.

With their powers combined, Yennefer and Geralt freed Margarita from the most formidable prison in the North. Rita was in a very sorry state, but the knowledge that she was free and would not perish on a pyre fortified her strength. Yennefer showered her long-time friend with tender care, and everyone hoped for a swift recovery.

Walkthrough for The Great Escape in the Witcher 3

Head across Novigrad to the Lacehalls brothels and find the brothel called Crippled Kate's. You will find Yen sitting at one of the tables. Answer her how you wish. Abbe Faria enters the brothel and flees after you start asking questions. Exit the brothel on the canal side and head east along the edge of the canal. Run in a straight line and grab him when you're close. You can also cast Aard on him. If he is too far away, he gets to a ladder and climbs the scaffolding to the roof. Follow him until Yen stops him.

Return to Kate's and speak to Faria. Ask him about the corpses, the torture and the drunk guards. Before you head off to meet Yen, you may return to the Rosemary and Thyme and speak to Zoltan. If you helped the mages escape during Now or Never, Zoltan convinces you it's not a good idea to hang around the prison. If you didn't help them escape, he agrees to load beer and heard to Deireadh. Once there Yen will signal him through to get the guards drunk.

Ride to the outskirts of Oxenfurt. Speak about entrances to the prison. Yen has found several . You can resume or return to Zoltan for help. If you already have, you tell Yen the dwarf is ready.

Follow her across town until you reach the well. Drop down the well and surface. Climb into the sanctuary and head southeast into the chamber. A grave hag will be guarding the archway. Wade donw the corridor to the northeast and swim. Climb up to a tunnel that curves to the left into a chamber where you will find 3 drowners. Find the lever on the wall, left of the arch you entered. Remove it and move through an archway to the southwest into a waterlogged room. Head left and cross a stone bridge with bones on it and back into the chamber where the grave hag is. Access the mechanism on the south and insert the lever and open the door.

To the right is a submerged cavern. Head left and make your way towards the brick wall and Aard it open, where you will enter the sewers to find three ghouls and a necrophage. The tunnel is a dead end, so head east and northeast. Turn right and enter the tunnel of water to the south. Climb up the bloody ledge into the torture chamber. If Zoltan has arrived with the booze, no one is here. If he didn't, there are two hunters here that you must slay.

Open the door on the southwest and take the stairs up and through another door into the main prison. Defeat the hunters and access the grating along the corridor across from the door you entered from. Margarita is in a cell here and possibly Sile if she survived during Witcher 2.  You will need the key.

Head to the northeast door and up the stairs. If Zoltan has helped with the booze you will find a bunch of them drunk. You can slip past them if you keep your distance. Head up the stairs to the office and deal with him to loot the key. If Zoltan didn't bring booze, enter the stairs adjacent and go up to the room and knock ou tthe 2 witch hunters. Go back down, outside and take on the prison guard. There will be a bunch to take out. After, search the corpse of the Redanian commander for a key.

Once the key is in tow, make your way back and unlock the cell and Yen arrives and teleports out. If Sile is around she will beg for death. You can opt to do it or leave it to Yen.

Make your way back to the courtyard and take out the remaining enemies or sneak past them if they're all drunk. If you had Zoltan help, he'll be waiting in the courtyard. Speak to him to conclude the quest. Otherwise, head along to the warden's office and inspect the list of prisoners. Head outside and make your way to a broken section of the west wall. Hop out to the main street to conclude the quest.

You can also head back to the sewers and to the torture chamber where you will find a key that opens locked doors in the sewers. Take the tunnel to a second door, pass it and head right into a cellar of a house. Climb into the house and leave through there. You may now leave for Oxenfurt, meditating or manually waiting until morning before you do so.
