The Witcher 3 Next Gen Update or Next Gen Update for The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is the brand new and anticipated Update or Patch Note of the game. The Free Next Gen Update for The Witcher 3 features an enhanced version for PC and Next-Gen Consoles (Current Gen) such as the PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S. The brand new update's release date is set to launch on December 14, 2022.

The next-gen update is free for everyone who already owns any version of the game. For those who don’t have the game yet, a dedicated next-gen version, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition, featuring all enhancements, free DLCs, and story expansions: Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine, will be available for purchase digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a physical release at a later date.

In addition to the next-gen release, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will also receive an update featuring numerous additions and improvements, as well as the Netflix Witcher-themed DLCs.

 

What is the Next-Gen Update for The Witcher 3?

The Free Next-Gen Update for The Witcher 3 is a patch that is enhanced with the power of next-gen consoles and modern PC hardware in mind, the upcoming update will feature dozens of visual, performance, and technical enhancements, including ray tracing support, faster loading times on consoles, a variety of mods integrated into the experience, and much more! Apart from that, CD PROJEKT RED is adding a set of DLCs inspired by Netflix’s The Witcher series, such as new weapons and armor for Geralt and alternative looks for select characters.

CD PROJEKT RED does not only deliver enhanced graphics and new DLCs, but it also incorporated brand new features and improvements towards Quality of Life (QoL). The Next-Gen Update will also feature a new Photo Mode where players can now capture unique moments in the game, and apart from that, there is also an optional in-game camera that brings the viewpoint much closer to the action while on foot, on horseback, or even both. Brand new Map Filters have also been added for better management, improvement to the controls, the HUD, and much more!

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is one of the most successful games that was launched back in 2015 and up to this day, is still being picked up and played by both veteran and new fans of the franchise, and having this new update surely brings excitement to its community by delivering enhanced graphics, better performance, and brand new content.

 

The Witcher 3 Next Gen Update Features

 

The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update DLCs

Besides major improvements in game graphics and quality-of-life changes, the Next-Gen Update features New Quests and Additional Content.

• A new Secondary Quest: In the Eternal Fire's Shadow. Help a priest of the Eternal Fire deal with the bandits and spirits lurking in the Devil's Pit before they spread another plague throughout The Continent.
• New NPC: Reinald. A School of the Wolf Witcher met during In The Eternal Fire's Shadow that points you towards the Forgotten Wolf School Gear.
• Scavenger Hunt: Forgotten Wolf School Gear Diagrams. A new Treasure Hunt to unlock the new set of Witcher Gear inspired by the Netflix Show.
• Alternative looks for Dandelion and all Nilfgaardian Soldiers, both also inspired by the Netflix Show. These looks can be enabled under the Gameplay settings in the Options menu.
• Added Chinese and Korean voice-over. Availability on consoles varies by region.
• Various improvements and changes to Russian voice-over, including fixes for accelerated / slowed lines in the vast majority of scenes.

 

  

The Next-Gen update comes with extra rewards for those who own the Complete Edition and have played the standalone Gwent game, GWENT: The Witcher Card Game.

• The Thousand Flowers armor and sword sets from Dol Blathanna. Available for those who own the Complete Edition of The Witcher 3.
• The Swords of the Nine-Tail Vixen and White Tiger of the West armor set.
• The Roach Gwent Card. A variant is also available in the standalone Gwent game. Available to those who have played GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. You must use the same platform and account for both games to be eligible for this reward.

These rewards can be found in Yennefer's quarters at the Royal Palace in Vizima.
