Iris is a Steel Sword in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Steel Swords form one half of Geralt's primary Weapons which he uses to deal damage to Enemies in combat. Steel Swords are effective against humans as well as non-magical or supernatural opponents such as beasts and some humanoids but are ineffective against most Monsters. They can be enhanced with some Oils to increase their effectiveness against certain targets and some can be socketed with Runestones or Runewords for more bonus effects. This Weapon is available with the Hearts of Stone DLC.
- Note that Damage and Level are not listed due to Damage's dependence on the item's Level, and the randomness of the item's Level when acquired.
Iris Weapon Attributes in The Witcher 3
Iris has the following properties:
Weapon charges with energy during combat. When its color changes to red, a strong attack will release this energy in an extra powerful strike, at the cost of part of the attacker's Vitality.
Iris sports a very unique effect which causes the blade to flash red after landing 3-4 fast attacks in rapid succession. Blocked strikes will still count towards charging the blade. Once charged, your next strong attack releases the energy, dealing much more damage but draining 15% of Geralt's health. This empowered strong attack will cut through an opponent's block and also has an effect similar to the Aard Sign, knocking the target down.
Iris also has the hidden effect of striking twice with any strong attack, regardless of whether the blade is charged or not.
