Walkthrough
This quest begins as soon as Ugly Baby and all of its related quests have been finished, just before you are about to embark for the Isle of Mists. There are severl requirements you need to have met when assembling your force. They are as follows:
- Brothers in Arms Nilfgaard: Visit the Royal Castle in Vizima and speak to the emperor. He will agree to send troops but insists that they are commanded by General Voorhis. You don't agree to this proposal so you leave.
- Brothers in Arms Velen: If you did not kill Letho in your Witcher 2 save, he is hiding out in a barn in Reardon Manor near Lindenvale. Once you complete The Fall of the House of Reardon with him surviving he moves to Kaer Morhen.
Return to Keira's Hut in No Man's Land and speak to the sorceress. She will assist you if you help her with the following quests: - Brothers in Arms Novigrad: Locate Roche's hideout in a rocky area near Oxenfurt. He is willing to help but can only go once you complete the quest An Eye for an Eye. Once you do, he agrees to help and him and Ves will appear in Kaer Morhen. They'll question your judgement if Letho is there.
Zoltan is more than ready to help as soon as you ask him at his location in Rosemary and Thyme.
Sigismund Dijkstra can be found in his bathhouse library. He will offer you a reward if you completed Count Reuven's Treasure and didn't use violence, asking Menge specifically about Dijkstra's treasure. Otherwise you get nothing.
Triss is worried about Ciri and wants to help but can't leave until the mages are evacuated. You must have completed the quest Now or Never and the mages escape. If you forgot this quest you can't reach Triss. If you completed this quest, Triss is at Kaer Morhen and doesn't need to be located. - Brothers in Arms Skellige: Visit Crach an Craite in the Kaer Trolde keep or at the coronation of the new king or queen and ask his help. He can't spare troops but gives you an heirloom sword.
Cerys is in Kaer Trolde or at the coronation. She may be ruling Skellige but either way can't travel. If you want to ensure she becomes the ruler, you must complete the following quests: - Speak to Hjamlmar in Kaer Trolde or at the Coronation. If he rules Skellige, he has sworn to aid you in your cause and make his way to Kaer Morhen with no hesistation. If he's not King, Cerys will send him as her rep. If you want him to become ruler, you must complete the following quests:
- Ermion can be found Kaer Trolde or Geyneith. He will agree immediately and makes preparations right away.
- Folan and Vigi can be found in Undvik. If you've met them and helped them they will have made the trip to Kaer Morhen. To make sure they help out complete the quest The Lord of Undvik and save Folan from the the troll and save Vigi from prison.

WARNING! Broken quest, but only IF you elect to support Svaringe (which you cannot directly do). This is the most incomplete part of the game I had ever come across, in my 7 plays through. You can tell something more was supposed to happen here...perhaps a proper Svaringe/ Birna quest arch, but it wasn't coded into the game...perhaps it never got written, or cut for lore issues,as it would sort of go against Geralt and the An Craite's entire history. I never knew of this option/ route in my other plays through because I was never neglectful in my quests, as I am rather O.C.D. about it. Typically you will only discover it if you're bored with the Skellige stuff and want to move on and say, "I'm done with this crap...next!" But? It turns out that choosing to not aid in the investigation is the true "Witcher's way" outcome, as electing to not to aid in the investigation into the Berserker/ bear attack, thereby forgoing Hjalmar/ Cerys dispute, but still having done Hjalmar's and Cerys' respective "King's Gambit (?)" radiant quests, is the same as saying, "I don't meddle in throne power struggles and politics..." If only it would have been penciled in that way...but as I had said, "broken quest.." "missing content." Those interested in the Svaringe path? Which draws a balance between Hjalmar and Cerys's rule? Here's what to expect: As I had mentioned, IF you choose not to aid the Bear (we'll call it for newcomers) investigation, it's the same as saying, "Witchers don't get involved in matters of the throne..." Which is a VERY poor way for CDProjekt to handle the ultimate Skellige outcome because, later in the story you end up with a main quest, called, "Isle of Mists" where the secondary objective is to recruit allies, and once you get them all recruited, the secondary objective stays jammed open and points you to complete Brothers In Arms, but Brothers In Arms is also jammed open because you chose not to aid the investigation, which was supposed to result in who was to be coronated, so you get stuck with Isle of Mists saying, "hey! Finish Brother's In Arms and complete the coronation in order to recruit someone, dummy!" And the Brothers In Arms quest is responding with, "Yeah, stupid! Finish me so you can coronate someone, a-hole!" But Brothers In Arms wasn't written to understand a neutral stance and that you had long since chose neither Hjalmar, or Cerys and that the investigation leg of Brothers In Arms is now closed. So ultimately you will fail Brothers In Arms and the chance for a "Full Crew" achievement, since you did not recruit a certain member of An Craite. Had this been resolved before the game's release, I'm sure Svaringe would have been officially selected he would have sent Blueboy Lugos to help in the Isle of Mists quest.
Enjoy this game dearly! Only problem I have is age and one damn low IQ. I'm not dumb but admit i've should have went to the college of hard knocks! Menacing -stand 13
