Ciri's explosion of power had frightened everyone, her most of all. Clearly these uncontrolled outbursts could not be allowed to happen again, and so when the sorceresses departed for Novigrad to gather the Lodge, Ciri, Geralt and Avallac'h remained at Kaer Morhen for a few more days. The Sage hoped to teach Ciri a few tricks for controlling her power.

Walkthrough for The Witcher 3 Blood on the Battlefield
The quest begins with a mountain top funeral. You can reflect and speak to the survivors who are left. Once you've spoken to whomever you like, head north down the hill towards the fortress when Avallac'h, Triss, Yen and Ciri are.
A few days pass and Ciri appears with Avallac'h. She asks how you manage to put the battle behind you. Respond with "think I know what might lift your spirits" and a snowball fight ensues. This will lift her mood some. You can speak to her about a few topics. This option is a positive choice towards Ciri's fate.
If you respond, "relax you don't have to be good at everything" you get drunk but Ciri does not change her mood. This is a negative choice towards Ciri's fate.
Ciri wakes you in the morning and tells you to head to Velen to the witches sabbath on Bald Mountain. Imlerith will be the guest of honor. Before you agree, answer how you'd like until you choose "Gotta visit the emperor first" or "All right, Velen it is". If you visit the emperor first you head to Vizima, otherwise you head to Bald Mountain.
If Ciri sees the emperor she will become Empress and allows the epilogue Something Ends, Something Begins (II) to be possible with enough positive choices. If she ignores the emperor this allows Something Ends, Something Begins (III) to be possible with enough positive choices.
A week later you arrive at Vizima, and into the castle gardens. Answer Emreis how you wish. A servant arrives with a chest. You can either refuse the coins on principle, and Ciri is proud of you, resulting in a positive choice for Ciri's fate. You can also accept it, which causes her to lose faith in, resulting in a negative choice for Ciri's fate.
Ciri and Emreis leave to speak in private. If you refused the money, you are given a mare instead. In the grand hall, Voorhis arrives and references Ciri becoming Empress. Ciri interrupts and is a bit angry. The quest now concludes along with Act 2. Act 3 begins with the quest Bald Mountain.
