A Poet Under Pressure is a Main Quest in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. Main Quests are the main storyline of the game that can have a major effect towards the endings. Some of these quests may have dialogue choices that will alter the ending of the game.
If you met Dijkstra at his bathhouse office after assisting him with his treasure quest during Count Reuven's Treasure, he will send a few of his men to assist you with the ambush.
Ah, what times those were, times of adventure, action and unexpected twists around every corner! As you surely recall, Ciri and I escaped from *****son Junior's headquarters only to wind up trapped in a corner by the Temple Guard. Ciri managed to get away, but I was captured and tossed in the Temple Isle dungeons. From there I was transported to Deireadh, the infamous Oxenfurt prison, to await my execution – and here my tale would surely end, had my friends not devised an ingenious plan to ambush the transport.
Yet even the best-laid plans can go awry if fortune deems it so. The ambush succeeded only partially, as one of the guards tossed me on his horse and fled in the heat of the action. Not losing my cool for ny [sic] second, I quickly concocted a plan of my own, and it had almost come to fruition when Geralt burst in and broke me free in his typical clumsy yet, granted, effective way. But do not think me ungrateful or cold-hearted – any irritation I felt soon faded in the sincere joy that filled my heart upon seeing my old friend once more.

Walkthrough for The Witcher 3 A Poet Under Pressure
Head east out of Novigrad to reach the ambush point. Go up the grassy embankment on the north and to a campfire and brick ruins to find Zoltan who as set the ambush. If you have helped Dijkstra during Count Reuven's Treasure you can meet him in his office to get reinforcements for the ambush.
Speak to Zoltan and Priscilla will arrive with a note from Dudu. She will stay and ask if you want to play Gwent. Wait until you hear the sounds of horses. The ambush begins and chase the guard who flees with Dandelion. Summon Roach and use your Witcher senses to track him. Follow the horse prints to a farmer's camp and ask around.
Beyond the camp is a fork in the road. Inspect the perfume bottle and use your senses to pick up the scent trail. Speak to the dwarf and halflings and let them know you're there to remove the hunter. Take the key from them and unlock the trapdoor and descend. Head throught the cellar and climb the ladder to the hut. Head into the room and cut down the guard. Untie Dandelion and speak to him about Ciri. The quest now concludes.
